Full professor at the departement of mathematics and computer science of Basel.
In charge of the projects " Birational transformations of threefolds", grant no 200020_178807 and "Curves in the space", grant no 200021_169508 of the Swiss National Science Foundation.
President of the Swiss mathematical society
Organiser, with Z. Patakfalvi, of a birational geometry conference (2021)
Organiser, with M. Hemmig, C. Urech, S. Zimmermann, of the Cremona conference (2016)

Editor / Referee
I am editor of the New York Journal of Mathematics, an academic electronic open access journal and of L'Enseignement mathématique, an academic journal which is open access after five years.
Since 2016, I no longer publish articles or do referee reports for nonacademic journals (hence I do not consider Elsevier/Springer/Birkäuser/... journals at all) and try to privilege open access journals, in the good sense (open access= free for authors and for readers).
